HSBC Expat - Expat Explorer Survey 2012

by Kijner & Sons International Realty

Kijner & Sons International Realty is pleased to share with you HSBC 2012 Expat Explorer Survey which ranks Thailand as the second best place for expatriates thanks, in part, to its exceptional quality of life and booming real estate market.

According to Dean Blackburn, Head of HSBC Expat, "Asia is increasingly coming to the fore as a top destination for both financial opportunity and life experiences".

The survey compares 30 different countries worldwide and is based on data collected from over 5,000 expats during 2012. To download the complete survey and its findings, click here or on the image below.

A Weekend In Pattaya

by Kijner & Sons International Realty

Located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, the city of Pattaya is filled with beaches, lights, restaurants, bars, and countless five star hotels. Situated just 165 kilometers outside of Bangkok, Pattaya is a major tourist hot spot for people from all over the world. The city is yuppie and colorful, and the fun never ends.

For centuries, Pattaya was considered to be a fishing village, but in the early 1960’s, that all changed when a group of Vietnam servicemen came there for relaxation purposes. What was once considered a quite, undisturbed, isolated city, became one of the most visited, most popular beach resorts that attracts more than 4 million people every year.

A trip to Pattaya is a real experience and one of the most attractive aspects of it, is the fact that, within an hour of leaving Bangkok - which is a major city, with a large population, filled with taxis, and subways (basically the New York city of Thailand) - one can come to a peaceful and serene environment. Pattaya is the complete opposite of Bangkok. Bangkok has offices and lots of traffic, where Pattaya is a one-stop beach resort, where one can just drop everything, grab a lounge chair on the beach, and watch the sunset while meditating.

The touristy area of Pattaya is broken down into five parts. There are three main roads: North Pattaya road, Central Pattaya road, and South Pattaya road. Then of course, there is the infamous Pattaya Beach road, obviously along the Beach, and finally towards the southwest, there is the well-known Walking Street.

The three main roads are filled with bars, clubs, restaurants, shops, vendors, flea markets, hotels, and massage parlors. The whole day, people are eating, going out with friends, having a couple drinks, and receiving some of the best massages, for a very reasonable price.

The beach road is of course, the precious gem that makes Pattaya what it is. In the main area of Pattaya where the beach-front runs about two miles long, one is able to either soak in the sun or just sit back and relax under an umbrella while enjoying a coconut cocktail. The beach is gorgeous, offering many activities including parasailing, jet skiing, banana boating, boat tours, and even wake boarding. It is a great place to bring your family for a long weekend and enjoy everything Pattaya has to offer for an affordable, and most importantly, an enjoyable experience.

The final trademark, and heavily visited tourist attraction in Pattaya, is the infamous Walking Street. It is located at the southwest end of the beachfront. The street runs for about 1 kilometer and is jam-packed with bars, clubs, restaurants, and tourists. Many people enjoy coming here to sit down at a heavily populated bar, and sing along to some of the famous American music that was popular in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

KSI Realty’s Recommended Spots:

If you are staying for a weekend in Pattaya, we advise you to book a room at the Hilton, a beautiful hotel located on the beach.

Looking to wine and dine at one of the most delicious restaurants in Pattaya, then try Beef Eater Pattaya along one of the main roads.

A perfect outing in Pattaya would not be complete without an hour long Thai massage in one of the city’s numerous massage parlors along the North Pattaya road.
